International Conference – Foundations: Underpinning Christian Education?

Friday 11 – Sunday 13 July 2014 at Canterbury Christ Church University (Canterbury, UK)

This conference is for those with a scholarly interest in Christian Education. A particular goal for the conference is to encourage the next generation of Christian thinkers by supporting those studying for a postgraduate degree or involved in post-doctoral research. The theme of the conference is reflection on the foundations that underpin different approaches to Christian Education.

The programme for the conference will include:

  • Plenary presentations from leading British academics
  • Plenary presentations from two students recently completing their doctorates
  • Seminar papers presented by delegates
  • Chance to explore the historic city of Canterbury, where the Christian faith in Britain began
  • Christian worship in different traditions

Call for Papers

Submissions to present research papers on Christian Education are invited. A diversity of approaches are welcome including empirical, philosophical and theological. Submissions from those working for a research degree are particularly encouraged.

Papers will be circulated to delegates in advance of the conference. Presenters will be allowed up to 15 minutes to summarise their paper with the bulk of the session given to critical discussion of the paper. Presenters are asked to give particular attention to the intellectual foundations of their presentation.

An abstract of up to 300 words should be submitted to elizabeth.melville@canterbury.ac.uk by 1 April 2014. Notice of acceptance of a paper will be made by 17 April 2014.
